January 2007 - Snow Days!

Woo hoo. It was plenty time for snow! We awoke Tuesday morning, January 17, to silence - and snow was falling. Kari hollered at me to come look. She awoke Jak. Louie was quietly checking our excitement, but didn't quite know what to make of our exhuberance... As you can see from the above pic, LOTS of people took advantage of the weather. We dug out the sleds. Kari took neighbor Max to Gabriel Park for 2 HOURS! Everyone wondered WHERE they went! Snowmobiles, skiis, but only a few cars. See more of my pics here. With the snow on Tuesday and the ice on Wednesday, we were at home for two additional days!

August 2006 - Multnomah Days

Multnomah Days - parade, art festival, outdoor cinema - happenings! How our village celebrates life and summer. Read  about it in The Multnomah Villager. There are even great pics of the parade.

December 2005 - Winter's Chill

A quiet Christmas Eve as 2005 draws to a close  sees few people out and about in the hours before Christmas. This year we received a 'dusting' of snow. Everyone hoped for the more intense blast of two-years' previous, but it was not to happen. A relative warm-spell came and melted everything away. Still, the dusting of snow on the sidewalk outside Renner's Grill gives the village that romantic winter feel.

August 2005

We notice a number of neighbors are rennovating their homes, and several are putting them up on the market. We are seeing values rise in the village, commensurate with values rising in all of Portland. It just goes to show, in this day and age, that people value a neighborhood, and a village is a major influencer on local life.  It's a focal point, a meeting-place, somewhere you can get out and walk, a named-space -  somewhere for folks to call home.

July 2004 - Village time

We move to the village, being fortunate to find a home two blocks off the main-drag, Capitol Highway. Also fortunate, in that we moved exactly 4.0 miles from our old home. Before we moved here, we actually drove through and got lost getting home, travelling north on 40th Avenue, turning around and around, finally making it to Barbur Blvd. Confusing if you don't know your way around.
